how can i use medicine to treat my addiction to tramadol?
wish upon a star asked:
For those of you that think tramadol is not addictive, thats BS! It is addictive and i am experienceing it first hand. I have been trying to wean myself off of it for the last 6 months with no improvement because when i lower my dose i have severe mood swings and become very angry and my energy levels are depleted, and i cant be a good mother to my 1 year old. When i PMS the bad symptoms get even worse so i increase my dose and im fine, but that puts me back right where i started. So now im looking into another way, medication. Will a doctor give me medication for this, what kind, and how can i take it without becoming addicted to it? Im determined to live a drug free life and the day im free of this addiction will be one of the best days of my life.

For the most part, there is no decent way to use medication to get off of another medication. You’re just switching addictions.
It’s good that you have at least reached the point where you can say, “yes, I’m addicted.” Seriously. That’s a huge step that can’t be overstated.
The best thing to do is contact your prescribing physician and explain what is going on. He or she will probably recommend you see an addiction specialist or try to find an NA meeting. That’s a good start, but what you really need is to make sure you have a good support system around you. Family and friends will make or break your ability to wean yourself off of the drug.
I don’t know how long the detox is for tramadol. It’s made longer by weaning, although of course cold-turkey quitting is very difficult. Try to be around your family more. See if you can have someone move in for a little bit, or if you can stay with them. Make sure that they, and ONLY they, have control of the drug. That, and seeing a specialist, are really the best things you can do.
I was told to try this not long ago I wish I could but I am allergic to the material tha patches are made of.
I havebeen om Tramadol for many years and will more than likely stay on it till I die,I dont have a choice.
