heythere:) asked:
I have this chocolate addiction, and diabetes runs in the family. I wouldn’t want to get that. Anyway, can anyone help me? Please suggest ways or any substitutes or whatever for chocolate.

Try avoiding them
If you crave it, eat chips or sumthin.
umm try a hypnotist if you really want to get rid of it
chocolate isn’t addictive…. so just stop it, just STOP it!
ps. if it makes you feel any better, the average chocolate bar has 8 insects’ legs in it
get a new addition find something u like better eg doritos, games etc
why dnt u jus stop eatin chocolate? its not that hard.. its not like a drug like cigarettes that has an addictive substance in it (e.g. nicotine) ur body doesnt need it
In a world of counting calories and trying to eat healthy, there is a healthy food choice to replace just about anything. I’m pretty sure they make healthier chocolate (less sugar and such) but I wouldn’t expect it to have as good of a taste. I love chocolate too =[ but i just try to limit my intake and balance it with foods from other groups.
I had the same problem, just couldnt stop eating chocolate, in the end i went to have hypnotherapy. its not the cheapest option, but after 3session i was “cured.” i didnt want chocolate or even think about it. 6 months on now and i sitll occasionly have a lil bit of it everynow and then. But try things like if u want chocolate go and brush your teeth. Or down 1 – 2 glasses of water quickly, this makes you feel full / sick and you wont want to eat any.
its hard but if you gradually ween yourself off of it, you’ll overcome it

The simplest way to get over chocolate i think is not eating as much of it until your down to a bar a day and then start eating veggies, chips, fruit or something else and drink water because water fills you up quickly.Another way would be to buy a chocolate scented candle and smell it when you want chocolate.(you don’t need to light it)
Don’t have chocolate in your house, or sub with dark chocolate (which I don’t like) or the fake chocolate products (with carob)…chocolate is not horrible for you, but ya know, everything in moderation…if you cannot control yourself around it then you have to make your body forget what it tastes like…if you cut out sugar for a while then your body will be like ‘yuk, too sweet’ if you go back…
Ok look: 1st stop buying chocolate! 2nt everytime you want to eat a chocolate, just take a class of water! But if you really need somthin sweet just eat honey! its much better than chocolate!
It takes 21 days to get over an addiction so limit yourself to eating choco only once or so in those 21 days everytime you eat chocolate put a dollar in a jar and and then once those 21 days are over start a new 21 days if you were able to limit yourself through those 21 days then you get the money back. = ]
I don’t believe that chocolate is not an addiction – why when I stop eating it do I have hot flushes and lose my temper quickly!
My suggestion to you is to buy some low fat hot chocolate, when you are in need of “a hit” make a cup of this. Also if you can stand dark chocolate buy a 70% cocoa bar and have a square when you need it – just make sure you limit yourself to 2 squares a day.
My other suggestion (this is what i do) is to have at least 4 pieces of fruit to hand and tell your self if you eat all the fruit you can have some chocolate. In theory you should be full after the fruit and not want the chocolate!
Hope my answer helps.
I think your addiction is mostly psychological. I suggest just going “cold turkey”. That was the only way I was able to quit smoking in 1999. Since you are susceptible to diabetes because of family history, I would extremely limit any sugar from your diet. It could even be sugar cravings that you are experiencing. Sugar gives you a big surge of feel good energy and afterward you come down and crash. If you were to replace sugar with sugar substitutes, even chocolate that is made with sugar substitutes, possibly your cravings will dissipate.
