This is for my brother. He’s really gotten worse lately. We used to be so close but now he pushes me away. He has become violent too. I guess this is just normal for an alcoholic, but it’s not the real him. Last night, he broke down and cried and told me that he no longer knows what to do. It really broke my heart to have to see him that way. It pains me to see him suffering like this. So I promised him that we’re going to get him treated and he can get his normal life back. I don’t know how to find addiction treatment centers. Please help.

Not to be rude but has no one on Answers ever heard of the phone book?!!
Do your parents know about this? Maybe they could help him. You could all take him to see a doctor so that his situation can get properly assessed and the doctor will be able to give you recommendations regarding the right treatment program and treatment center. The links below hold lists of the addiction treatment centers near your vicinity. You just need to call them and inquire about their services. Best of luck to you and your family. Just keep on being there for your brother. He really needs your support now.
First, get him to an AA meeting.
Second, call your state healt dept or social services dept to see about care.
If your bro has insurance, or is young enough to be covered under a parental policy, his choices are way better, just contact the insurance company. But many policies have a substance abuse (preexisting condition) clause. You might need a lawyer.
AA can help right away with all the info he needs, because as much as you wan’t to help him fix this, you are not the one he needs, AA has a sponsor for your brother. Get him there.
He may well get drunk again and “forget” his admission to you.
Call him on it.
Make him go with you to AA and tell the truth to people who utterly get what he is going through.
