Is a disease that needs treatment??? Or do you think that addicts are just weak, and they could quit if they really wanted to?
Yes I have also seen the studies that have been done on addiction. It is very interesting how the addict brain is different from a normal brain. I believe it is a disease and I believe it is hereditary.

It depends on the addict. Some can quit on their own while others need help and treatment
I think it’s a bit of both. Addictions are usually diseases and you need treatment but some people are very strong-willed and can fight things like this by themselves, depends on the persons personality and how they were raised.
I think it is a disease. It’s like another person takes over the addict and they are not themselves anymore and they do need treatment, but first they have to realize that they are addicts and want to have the help. If the addict can just quit whenever they want to, then they’re not really addicted.
No i don’t I have plenty of habits, that i could quit if i REALLY WANTED TOO.
i have had many addictions in my life some i stopped some i wont it all depends on the person and there will power
i think it is a disease because it controls the person and if you think about it is is kinda like a mental illness some people believe that they need it or they will die or god knows what else
no they are weak ppl!!
and they can’t quit even if they wanted cuz it is going to be very late for them!!
Addiction is recognized internationally as a mental disease. That’s good enuf for me!
I’ve seen the studies that show how an addictive brain is different from a normal one, and the ones that prove a familial correlation too.
I just accept that the title of “disease” is good enough for the medical and psychological comunities, so again i say GOOD ENUF FOR ME!
A true addict cannot stop on their own. That’s what addiction is – when you do drugs and have no control over your use. Treatment and continued life long support is necessary for an addict to recovery. Also, addiction is not necessarily hereditary. I’m a heroin and cocaine addict and I’m the only one in my family who has ever done drugs – this disease does not run in my family whatsoever…..and thanks to the treatment I received, I can proudly say I’ve finally got six months clean after using drugs for 17 years.
It is a physical allergy coupled with a mental obsession, and yes it need treatment, but the patient has to be willing…..
Also…the most effective long term treatment has been a spiritual approach, so…..but it works if one is willing..
