Are Mental Illnesses Hereditary ??????????!??!!?

Question by : are mental illnesses hereditary ??????????!??!!?
my grandpa & his brother had epilepsy . & I’m pretty my dad is either bipolar or depressed cuz he’s so dependent on alcohol & drugs ! & i my dad’s brother is doing bad things & hurting people & yet he has no remorse . maybe he’s just evil , but you’d have to be crazy & delusional to cause so many problems & feel like you’re an innocent angel who’s always the victim , when in reality it’s the opposite!!!
anyways i think i might be bipolar & i’m wondering if the fact that mental disorders & illnesses run in my dad’s family would that make it more likely & possible for me to have one?????!?!?
++++++++++++ IM PRETTY SURE +++++++++
“ALEX” I’m a hypochondriac & i’m almost positive i wasn’t born crazy but these days i think i’m going crazy cuz i think i’m crazy & i think i have every illness in the book …. so , i think that shipped has sailed unfortunately :'[ & i know it’s not good to self diagnose but 2 things that i am positive i have & have had for many years now : OCD & ANXIETY !!
“LIZ” yeah , my dad goes ballistic when he goes thru his withdrawals & he’s very sensitive & protective when it comes to his brother . & is also delusional thinking his brother is an angel , when he’s not ! a lot of bad things have happened to me ; traumatizing & embarrassing situations in grade school , family deaths , family problems arguments fights & my own personal problems. y’know it seems to me that everyone i ever loved passed away or just up & left due to certain circumstances & i’ve never seen them since o; unfortunately , i don’t know how to cope with pain & am very weak !
& i have loving , caring , beautiful mom , nana , uncle (mom’s bro) & bother who take care of me 🙂
” JUDY & CHARLIE ” i have known for many years that my dad isn’t gonna change. we gave him many chances & he just goes back to his old ways ~ & i do care for him cuz he i know he had a hard life ; his aunt , uncle , dad , & grandma all passed away years ago& his mom abandoned him. he’s lost a lot of good friends too . he’s just caused too much pain to my real family & i can never forgive him . i guess he can’t let go of his past & doesn’t know how to cope or deal with his emotions & as a result the only thing he loves is drugs & alcohol !

Ok, Not Trying to Be Stupid, but Are There Actual Health Risks Other Than the Smoke From Marijuana?

Question by spinningjenny: Ok, Not trying to be stupid, but are there actual health risks other than the smoke from marijuana?
People are all like drugs are bad and all and smoke is bad for you, but is there in physical damage done by maybe 2,3 grams a week, you know, just a weekend thing. Everywhere I look it is just the smoke think and Dr. Weil in all his glory (god the man is a genius) only says casually any addiction is bad including sex and all, that smoke is bad, and that if you’re depressed it might make it worse and you could do stupid things to make it worse.

Answer by Canadian Bacon
It’s true that drugs (like weed) make mental illnesses (like depression) worse, because they affect the same area of the brain.
