Is There a Double Standard Here?
Question by tat: Is there a double standard here?
Mother vs. fathers…double standards?
When a man and a woman break up before a child is born, it seems to me that the mother feels she has more right to the child than the father does. i hear the term “sperm donor” being used constantly. Couldn’t men just as easily call the woman an “incubator?”
And why is it that (this really only works in the event of a first child) that the woman always expects the man to PROVE he is capable of taking care of the child. (let’s assume this man has no history of violence, drug addiction, etc.) Did the woman have to PROVE that she would be a good mother before getting knocked up? Does she have any more experience than the man does? no.
Then how do women justify this? Is it another way to get back at the father, by using the child as your pawn? This is a serious question, not an accusation…I really just don’t understand.

I think this attitude is mainly seen when the father has in fact run away from his responsibilities. Maybe he broke up with her because he wasn’t ready to grow up. I think it would make no sense for the woman to call the father a “sperm donor” if he actively expresses desire to be in the child’s life and does so when the baby is born.

Most of the women i know would gladly give the kids to the man, unfortunately it is a rare breed of man that will actually take them and accept full responsibility for them.
So the mom ends up with the kids, not because she is the best at the job but simply because she is the only one willing to do the job.
just what i have seen but i do feel sorry for men who actually want to be in the kids life and the woman acts like she created the kid on her own….it is such a shame when that happens.
“incubator”…ha ha, i like that! thats a good one!
