A biological addiction means there is medical evidence that a body becomes dependent on the drug. Without it there will be some effect; pain, or sickness, or something.
A psychological addiction is more of a placebo effect – although there is no actual physical dependence, the addict thinks that they need the drug to the point that their body will complain if they don’t have it.
Heroin causes both kinds of addiction because bodily systems become used to the drug, and cause a physical reaction if they don’t receive it. The addict will do anything to avoid the discomfort of this, and so maintains the addiction to avoid the withdrawal effects. Eventually their life revolves around finding and taking the drug, to the exclusion of normal behaviour, such as eating, sleeping, and living within the law.
