Should I Cut Back on Smoking and Start Drinking More?
Question by Antonio R: Should I cut back on smoking and start drinking more?
I smoke at least two ciggs a day. And well the reason I smoke is to relive some depression I might be feeling. So I was think is it better to cut back on that and just start drinking more? Last night I started drinking from 12:00 a.m. Until 4:00 a.m. and no one was at home so even though I felt drunk I did no real damage but I did get a hang over the next day. I’m only 19 and I think I’m heading towards a break down. What should I do?

Smoking and drinking is not the answer. Yes you did do damage last night as alcohol is very very hard on all of your organs. Smoking is also not good. How about seeing your doc for a diagnosis and treatment?

If you’re only smoking two cigarettes a day, you aren’t smoking to relieve much of anything. Do yourself a favor and PUT THEM DOWN before you get hooked. Once you need them, quitting is horrible. Nicotine has been found to be more addictive than heroin.
I smoke a pack and a half a day… I regret ever picking one up.
Figure out what is causing you to turn to substances and list reasons you might be caving. Once you have the reasons you require things to cope, work on fixing them. Start with denying yourself a drink once… then twice… then three times… good luck, buddy. Keep in mind – life does get better. Teenage years are absolutely terrible.
