What Signs Do Oxycontin Addicts Display?

I have a loved one who I believe is addicted to oxycontin. Ive found the pills(oxycoti and morphine) a few times which they just say is not theres and also found a needle in their vehicle(not sure if this is a method of using oxycontin). What r the signs of abuse of this drug?

You have already come across signs: Telling you there is not a problem when there clearly is (denial). Also, finding prescription bottles for different pain pills from different doctors (doctor shopping). Syringes and needles are a bigger red flag and yes prescriptions can be self administered via injection or snorting. Physical signs of opiate addiction include but are not limited to drowsiness, constipation and, depending on amount taken, can depress breathing. Central nervous system depressants slow down brain function; if combined with other medications that cause drowsiness or with alcohol, heart rate and respiration can slow down dangerously. Opioids can be taken orally, or the pills may be crushed and the powder snorted or injected. A number of overdose deaths have resulted from the latter routes of administration, particularly with the drug OxyContin, which was designed to be a slow-release formulation. Snorting or injecting opioids results in the rapid release of the drug into the bloodstream, exposing the person to high doses and causing many of the reported overdose reactions.
