How Long Do You Have to Be Mentally Addicted to a Drug Before It Becomes a Physical Addiction?
Question by X: How long do you have to be mentally addicted to a drug before it becomes a physical addiction?
Benzodiazepines are all I think about, I once took 100mg (50 pills) of Valium and take high doses of Lorazepam with alcohol, I’m certain I’m not physically addicted, I can stop taking them and a lot of the time I do by choice so the effects are stronger and I don’t feel anything bad, I feel normal but how long does this come before I actually need these everyday just to function the smallest tasks like getting out of bed?

Mind and body goes together. There is no such thing as mentally then physically addicted. You just said that you actually need the benzos everyday to function the smallest task which translate to dependency and could be even worse because an addict can function without it for awhile while a drug dependent can’t.
