How Can I Fix an Opiate Pain Medication Block?
Question by Abi Miller: How can I fix an opiate pain medication block?
When I had a C-section last year I was placed on a large amount of narcotic pain medication. Now a year later I go in to the hospital for extreme back pain, and a slipped disk in my back. They refuse to give me pain medication. They said I have been blocked, can anyone let me why this happened, how can i fix it, and how to go about getting meds so I can move again. They tell me take an ibuprofen and take a nap.

I’m sort of confused. When you say they say that you are blocked, do they mean that they think you are drug seeking? Or perhaps you are on a medication that blocks the effects of opiate drugs (morphine, Demerol) such as suboxoone because you have an addiction to pain killers? Having a c-section will not cause a blocking effect to opiate based narcotic. If you visit the ER frequently with injuries and ask for painkillers you are what they call a frequent flier. So unless you are a known drug seeker there is no other reason to use the word “blocked”. I’m not accusing you at all of being an addict I just need more information in order to help you.
