Ever since I’ve been in the fourth grade I’ve been eating erasers(don’t ask why). I used to eat erasers a lot and I’m not even sure how I started doing it. It’s not as bad anymore, and I thought it would stop. It’s been going on for four years, and I just can’t stop. I’m extremely serious with it because lately I’ve eaten more than usual and I can’t stop. I always have a compulsion to eat them. I try to resist as much as possible, but it’s no good. For example, even though about the past 3 months I haven’t eaten as much, I’ve been doing it on and off, and I get random compulsions to do so. For example, if I erase something on my paper and there are those bits of eraser shavings left over, I will feel the need to eat them or else I will feel mild to severe anxiety. Is it possible to develop a tolerance to any products or chemicals used to create erasers? This is extremely embarrassing and it seems extremely stupid, but it’s for real. In 5th grade everybody used to know about it because I didn’t really care. Now, everybody thinks I have stopped, yet it’s getting harder and harder for me to keep it secret from others. Can somebody please help? And please don’t say “Just stop eating erasers” because I can’t “just stop.”
Regardless of type, I tend to eat all whether they are cap erasers, big erasers, or erasers attached onto a pencil.
I’ve tried telling my mom but she isn’t taking me seriously. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I can just go without it before if I resist my compulsions I will suffer severe anxiety, frustration, and irritation.

Ok, i have an addiction to pulling my eyelashes. but i have recently stopped 🙂
About you, you need to stop. I know its hard. What you need to do is first, is dont put them near your mouth. get an eraser that is on your pencil. no others. try rubbing it on your face , side of the nose, forehead. but not near your mouth.tell your parents. they will give you good advise. i hope it works. i wih you the best
