Gambling Addiction — How Can We Stop?

Question by Wondering: Gambling addiction — how can we stop?
**Note I posted this under gambling, and now under mental health. If this is breaking a Yahoo! community guideline, just let me know. Thanks.**

When I met my husband, I would hate to waste $ 5 in a slot machine. After years of sitting next to him while he played roulette, I started playing — and was good at it. I’d win $ 1000, $ 2000, $ 5000 a pop. There was a time when I’d go just to get extra money. Then I came into a big windfall of money. He and I went nuts — now we have unpaid bills, empty bank account and a shameful gambling problem.

Please don’t just say “stop going,” because we said that at least 100 times — and many thousands of dollars — ago.

The casino is 20 minutes from my house. Is it possible to get ourselves “banned” from there by talking with the management? (Dumb idea, but I’m desperate). We’ve taken up golf but last night wnt to the casino instead and wiped out the last of our money. We know this is sick. Please help with ideas that work.

When you hit bottom then you will know what to do. Cold showers, no food, no car, etc. is the place you shall shortly experience. There is no answer for addiction, except “YOU”. Fix it now or it will surely be too late. Bank accounts with money in them are cool. Need I say more?

ok look. I know you can stop yourself from doing this. I know it is very tempting for you but you know you cant do this anymore. You and your husband might become broke and since the economy is down right now, you might consider saving it. If you want to break this habit then do something else with your husband. Go watch a movie every weekend or consider doing some activities. I like to go shopping in the mall on the weekends. Pray to the lord every Single day and soon your temptation will be gone. Hope i helped.
