Valium Addiction and Resistance?

Question by mariahsaintly: Valium addiction and resistance?
I’ve been taking Valium to get me through a difficult time. It really helps to have 5mg in the morning and another 5mg in the afternoon.

Does anyone know about how long it will take for the resistance to build up at this rate?
It has really helped me get through an emotional trauma. I’m also wondering about how long it will take for me to become addicted at this rate. I’ve been taking it at this rate for about 2 weeks so far. Something really bad happened and yes it’s a normal human reaction to grief and pain, but I wasn’t able to function at work, and I have a university course to complete, so I had to have something to take away the edge. And Valium did that.

I welcome your thoughts and knowledge on the addiction and resistance questions. How I got it and any other associated issues relating to Valium are not of concern to this particular question. Thank you, I appreciate your input and I always choose my own best answers from those who have obviously put thought into their answer.

Thanks.

I don’t think it is addictive. I would not take it during the day as a side effect is sleepiness. Take it for a few weeks, then, stop. Get some books about the particular trauma. Find a group, like a therapy group, where other members suffered the same loss. Talk it out, rather than, being on an RX. How you get off, is not asking for more pills and a higher dosage. Do the opposite, cut it in half, take half for a few weeks. Then, cut it in quarters. Don’t drop the prescription cold turkey. Talk to your prescribing physician to see if I am correct.
