Question by dede: Help in NW Indiana for son who’s depressed and self medicates?
Is there any other place in NW IN that has a good dual diagnosis program? He has been clean for four months but is depressed and ready to relaspe.(cocaine and/or heroin was what he used to self medicate.)Has low self-esteem, doesn’t care about anything,carries alot of guilt, and shame for things he’s done to self medicate. Newlywed since May/wonderful girl, new father to a baby girl/October and has a really good job that he likes in sales. Everything to be greatful 4-she/we(family) have alot of trust issues with him as he used to take his checks from previous jobs and go on binges or steal from us. His father is an alcoholic/drug addict. I divorced him when he was 9. He has a loving a and supportive family and a step father that has been there 4 him 4 9 yrs. My son is 25. Has been through alot of jobs until he found this one. Haven’t been able to find a doctor to treat his depression, they always address the substance abuse and not the depression. Question by gocats2009: painkiller addiction?
I have experimented recreationally with painkillers off and on for the past 6 years. I’ll go off and on with them and then switch to something else. Recently (the past month) I have been taken them about 5 days a week and sometimes doing an OC 80 or hydrocodone tens whatever is available. I havent done them for two days and now ive been sore and I ate 50 mg of hydrocodone tonight and it made me feel better but I didn’t really have any euphoria or get very high at all. Am i building a high tolerance or risking any sort of addiction now? I dont feel like i have to take them i just enjoy them alot

My friend has an addiction to Oxycontin. She only takes it at night before bed to help her fall asleep. Has anyone had an Oxy addiction? She thinks she is going to get sick if she just stops taking it.

If she’s only using the pills as a sleep aid, I don’t think she has really developed a physical addiction to the drug yet, which is good. Just tell her she needs to stop now before it gets really hard to quit. Exercising, or just doing anything physically active may help her get better rest

Tell her to take some dang Tylenol PM. It’s cheaper and will put her ass to sleep without all the itching that Oxycontin causes.    Read more...
