Am I Addicted Painkillers?
Question by Myles: Am i addicted painkillers?
I just have a question about painkillers because I’m starting to concern myself. Ive been taking painkillers as recreational use but the only way i can think to ask this question is to put an example. So for example, if I can take like 30mg of oxycodone(percocet) or mabe more could i consider myself at an addicted stage?

If your not taking them because they were prescribed to you, and the doctor still thinks you need them, and if your not in pain, but still taking them, you need to stop now. If you stop, and realize you are addicted to them don’t put off quitting, I guarantee quitting will only get harder, and harder with time. Plus, the longer you are addicted to them, the more potential you have to mess up you life more and more!

There is a difference between an addiction and building a tolerance to medication. If you are taking percocet or any other drug on a daily basis whether it be for pain relief or to attain a high you are at risk of developing an addiction. Anyone taking pain medication will eventually require higher dosages to reach the same level of effectiveness as the body builds a tolerance. This is how and why addiction is a high risk when taking pain medication.
If you do not have physical pain, you should not be taking pain medication. It is a dangerous and unhealthy escape.
