You’re a gamer: you’re fat, depressed, and need to go to rehab, oh and you probably have a brain defect. With Sony announcing the new Playstation slim, finally, and the price cuts, I thought it would be a good idea to bring up a new study about the average gamer. You’re 35, fat, and depressed. That is, if you want to believe a study from the CDC, Emory University, and Andrews University. They gathered data from over 550 adults aged between nineteen and ninety. What did they find? Well… surprise, the more video games you play the less physical activity you get. Males in particular had a much higher BMI. Female players reported having a higher level of depression. According to the researchers, women are able to help themselves feel better based on what music they listen to or movies they watch – thus the chick flick. Putting video games into the mix might get them to forget their problems. But, the researchers say, that this could lead to video games addiction. This is all common sense – my Wii even tells me to get off my fat ass and go play. So are these researchers saying video games should just go away? Not necessarily. Dr. Brian Primack seems to get it, saying in a commentary: “How do we simultaneously help the public steer away from imitation playlike activities, harness the potentially positive aspects of video games and keep in perspective the overall place of video games in our society?” At least he understands that while playing video games isn’t really the same …

Addiction Rehab: Jonathan Rhys Meyers Hospitalized In London
Former “Tudors” star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was hospitalized in London this week, Access Hollywood has confirmed. The 33-year-old actor, who has spent time in rehab in the past for alcohol addiction, was reportedly found “slumped on the floor” when paramedics responded to an emergency call from the actor’s home on Tuesday, the Sun reported.
