Consistant Exposure to Much Happiness Leading to Brain Damage/low Confidence/possible Depression?
Question by BestName: Consistant exposure to much happiness leading to brain damage/low confidence/possible depression?
I would like a professional opinion and please dont rip out a textbookanswer but one you have logically understood and/or developed.
Please note is use the word high to indicate any sense of euphoria not using it to meerly refer to the use of narcotics.
I have a theory that happiness may be bad and damaging my emotional and physical state, is it true? Happiness is an evolved signal to indicate positive behaviour that supports survival or procreation. Hence when you feel happy your body naturually assumes your on the right track – so what if your so well on the right path to survival your body does not longer need excess strength (muscle, bone) or more realistically a high energy draining brain. The human body tries to minimise expenditure (energy output, growth) to minimise the chance of not meeting the required intake so if you do not strain muscle your body will not grow more than genetically aquired muscle mass – right? So if a person is seldom in a state of pain, suffering or a sense of struggle and experiences euphoric highs that far outweigh any troubles in their life (such as narcotics or sexual addiction) the mind does not need excess brain power to mainpulate an indivduals environment/situation. I believe this is linked to several decreases in facets of thinking such as cognitive intelligence which i feel are applicable to my circumstance. I have not long ago reached 17 and have done almost absoloutley no schoolwork in my life yet i find my self exceptionally intelligent however i have been experiencing constant highs as described since a very very early age and experienced minimal struggle (including physical exercise). i feel as though my body is deteriorating and prioritising itself to efficiently maintain my high’s through expansion of fat stores in the kidney area (relative to my method of attaining euphoria) and a decrease in congitive intelligence. Furthermore i believe it has decreased my confidence as when one feels very happy their body feels safe and at equilibrium so it wants to take minimal risks. In the extreme opposite one who suffers alot and has minimal happiness/tranquility/euphoria is not in a state of equilibrium or safety and therefore the mind adjusts so that the individual is much more confident in order to gain whatever they can (basically meaning all in because you got nothing to lose). Lastly i believe all these outcomes are contributing to a growing depression in me linked to this process.
All theories stated where self generated and i would like to hear answers regarding any truth/falsity to this statements or personall opinions.

Dear One, Happiness is good for the body and the brain. Endorphines are good for us and promote physical and mental health. Happiness and depression are at two opposites of the spectrum. The body doesn’t need excess strength, but if I was happy and fearless, I would certainly work out more.
If you are ill with kidney problems, get to the doctor. If you don’t there will certainly be a decrease of cognitive intelligence. Happy people do have to take normal precautions to be safe in this world.I believe that you can be a happy person and experience low self confidence. This is more common than you think. I would suggest that you get evaluated for depression. You can be happy, then your brain is not making enough serotonin and depression results. I think we all need a mix of good and bad experiences to create courage, authenticity, and a good attitude toward life. It generally works this way. That’s all I have for now. Take good care.
