Dad Says He Will Stop Supporting Me….. Advice Please!?
Question by Sean: Dad says he will stop supporting me….. advice please!?
Hey guys. So here is the scenario. My father who is an ex marijuana smoker himself has made it clear to me that unless i stop smoking pot, then he will not support me financially. I am an 18.5 year old freshman at Cal State University Northridge. My dad and i have had a dispute over marijuana for the past two or so years, and nothing really has been solved. I do well in school, work part time, and in spite of my hard work, i choose to smoke marijuana when i feel it is necessary. My father says “once you graduate, even if you make it to that point i will say congratulations, and then say goodbye and you can pack your bags and leave” I have done nothing to my dad in anyway at all. I am nice to him everyday, heck i even work for him. What should i do in order to have him accept me for who i am, and support me in spite of my hard work. Why can’t he look past my “addiction” and let me go on with my life how i please. He blames all my problems on marijuana, but i tell him that this conflict we have is the problem, not the marijuana. Does anyone have any good advice? Thanks.
