I’m trying to stop eating junk foods, not because i wanna lose weight (im athletic), its because i want to get rid of acne. I have grown an addiction to eating junk food since 7th grade. My acne has gotten so bad that, i have it on my chest, shoulders and back, as well as my face. When im hungry and there’s no easy access to food, i buy junk food such as cakes and cookies. How can i kick the addiction and eat healthier?

i think the best thing to think about when you are picking up the junk food is, im trying to get clearer skin if you keep picking up these things than you must not really want that clear skin, also unless it a allergic reaction i was always told that junk food wasn’t the cause of acne, something you are eating is not agreeing with you. that’s is causing you to break out. you should go to the doctor and actually find out the causes.

Eating healthy foods can help your skin but supposedly what we eat does not cause acne. When I was a teen I had severe acne and the medical profession thought certain foods made acne worse but these days they say it’s not true.

Junk foods are not good for many reasons. They are empty calories which cause food cravings because your body is not getting the nutrients it needs to be healthy. Start eating more fruit, vegetables, whole grains and beans. Avoid anything made with white flour, fried foods, sugar, saturated fat, trans fats. Eat things like black bean burritos with salsa and guacamole (comes in single serving packs now) and a big bowl of oatmeal with walnuts, raisins, cinnamon and almond milk.

When you want something sweet, eat fruit. For example, berries, watermelon, apples, bananas. Make a smoothie with frozen fruit and almond milk.
Whole grains – oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat tortillas, whole grain pasta
Legumes – Black beans, garbanzo beans, hummus, lentils, peas, kidney beans, pinto beans, all beans
Vegetables – eat a big bowl of leafy green vegetables daily. Use romaine lettuce or any dark leafy lettuce (not iceburg). Eat 5 different color vegetables every day, such as bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, zucchini, cucumber, red onions, olives, kale, spinach, cabbage, asparagus, broccoli, all vegetables. I like to use hummus instead of salad dressing on salads.
In moderation eat avocados, nuts and seeds and a little chocolate.

Keep your hair and skin clean, don’t touch your face, keep your hair off your skin. When you wash your face, do it gently with your fingers not a washcloth. Ask your parents to take you to a dermatologist (skin doctor). If you don’t go to a dermatologist, get some acne soap and topical treatment like ProActive Solution.

You can do it — it gets easier once you get started. You’ll start loving the healthy food and your body will respond by not craving junk food any more because it will be getting the nutrients it needs.
