ok for instance, when u smoke a cigarette the nicotiene goes into your brain and infiltrates the dopamine receptors. Dopamine is your bodys way of storing memory of things that are essential to your survival. so when nicotine hijacks the dopamine receptors. It tells your body that nicotine is essential to survival. That way you search for that substance(in this case nicotiene) the same way you look for food when your hungry or water when your thirsty. Hope that helps
