I Was Sexually Molested Several Times Growing Up and Can’t Talk in Person About All of It, Help?

Question by Jason Stevens: I was sexually molested several times growing up and can’t talk in person about all of it, help?
Hi I’m Jason,

Im 21 now but from the ages 6-10 I was molested several times by two of my male family members. It was so scary, confusing, and painful and really messed me up in the head. It feels like it affects me still very much today (relashionships, addiction problems) but I have never gotten to really talk with someone about it because i too embaressed to tell my family what happened and I sturggle talkin vocally about it wit my shrink. So if anyone on here is a good listener and wouldn’t mind helping me talk about it, or wants to talk about similar stuff in there past, I would greatly appreciate it.

Ty Jason

why should you feel embarrassed its not your fault bro so you shouldn’t feel bad you did nothing wrong but yea man its better to open up with people that you could really trust like family or really close friends

My last partner was molested numerous times when she was qute young. She has been going to a therapist for years. It gets better for her everytime she unveils another bad moment.
YOU MUST REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE THE VICTIM. THEY HURT YOU. YOU DID NOTHING WRONG.
Maybe you haven’t found the right person to talk to about this. Try another therapist. Just because a person has the training doesn’t mean he/she is the right one for you. If you are gay you need a gay friendly therapist. ASk the gay center, the gay help line and pflag.org ( a wonderful supportive org started by parents of gay kids). If you are straight, you ask for a therapist who deals with sexual abuse. Not everyone is good at dealing with that issue. When you start feeling better, let your family know what has happened and why you are having problems. Both of the guys who hurt you shoud be legally punished and ostracized by the family.
AGAIN< REMEMBER THAT YOU WERE THE VICTIM. YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. Life is too short to live in the past with all that weight on your mind. Learn to let some of it go and go have a wonderful life. You deserve it. HUGS
