Question by me_mortician: Is there a genetic disposition for alcoholism/addiction?
Is it a genetic disorder or mutation, or is it just lifestyle choice?
I would like to find scientific proof to validate or invalidate the answer.

You do not have to look far. The Native American and Oriental peoples have been studied on this subject for years.
Alcohol is broken down differently in their blood stream. The sugars are converted differently within their bodies.
You can hunt down all the medical research by contacting your national medical association the publishers of the journals of medicine. ie The New England or British Medical Journals.

I don’t have the scientific proof, but I have read about it and heard about it in the media and my family and my husband’s family most certainly lend credence to the hypothesis.
