He wouldn’t notice the taste or anything, could it prove that the addiction is psychological since he won’t know its in there?

You don’t experiment on another human being by “testing” his weakness! If you do, I promise you’ll live to regret it. FYI, all addictions have both a physical and a phychological element, so you wouldn’t prove anything, anyway.
