Possibility I Have Depression?

Question by Mila: Possibility I have depression?
I found out I have a VERY high chance of having clinical depression by a personality test given to me by my school’s guidance office because I go there quite often to talk about what I think and other issues. I don’t know if it’s just teenage moody stuff or if it’s legitimate clinical depression. I don’t know whether I should get a test for this because my father and his side of the family think it’s just all in the mind. They think I can just suck it up and get better over time. My two sisters were tested for different types of mental illness and he got quite mad with my mom for letting them take the tests and at my sisters for thinking that they had any type of mental illness. I GUESS you can say that his family thinks lowly of the people who think they have a mental illness. Also, I know this sounds idiotic, but I’m actually quite afraid that the test and medications (if I’m ever given any) will cost a lot and we’re not the richest family. I wouldn’t want this to be a burden but I’m really torn because I’ve been feeling this way for more than a year and it’s not the least bit enjoyable feeling…this probably sounds really absurd as well but like I said, I’m really torn.

I have a oxycontin addiction, and Tomorrorw im going to go to a methadone clinic near me. I have Insurance, but I am broke as A joke. Is methadone a lot of money to detox with? I don’t know how much it costs where you are. However, in Australia I believe that the methadone program is PBS funded to be low cost or no-cost.

If you are in Australia you should see if you are eligible for a health-care card (talk to a social worker).

This happens in part because B-12 bound in food is released by hydrochloric acid and gastric protease, which are suppressed by those meds. The good news? A blood test can identify a deficiency. If you're taking PPIs or H2RAs, ask your doc to check.

Can I Get in Trouble if I Am Aware That My Wife Takes Medications That Is Not Prescribed to Her?

Question by Guanaco: Can I get in trouble if I am aware that my wife takes medications that is not prescribed to her?
This has been going on for some time, she gets sleeping pills, pain killers and other medications that she gets from her mom. The two that worry me the most are the sleeping pills and painkillers. We have health insurance and she does have a primary doctor. She says she does it to save money. I don’t have to be in the same room, I could hear her snapping the lid off the bottle. I don’t want anything happening to her, we have a 4 yr. old son. Thank you.

What Would Happen to Somebody If?

Question by Liam..: What would happen to somebody if?
They took an ‘overdose’ of paracetamol every day?
I say ‘overdose’ because I mean not enough to harm them, but more than the reccommended daily dose.

What would it do to their personality?
Would they form an addiction/psychological dependence?
Would it be as hard to break that addiction as it would with any other drug?

Answer by Craig F
they would probably feel no pain ask him to stab a knife in his her leg and see if it hurts

Answer by Loopy-Lou
they would be very spaced out all the time and yes, they probably would become addicted to it and it would be the same as being addicted to any other drug. they would also be doing serious damage to their liver. if you or someone you know is doing this then they need to see a doctor asap to have blood tests done to check their liver function

Craving Crushed/chipped Ice, but Not Anemic?

Question by Uncaring Straws: Craving crushed/chipped ice, but not anemic?
Told my dr that I crave crushed and chipped ice all of the time. I love crunching on it, it’s nice and cold, and just overall awesome. I like to call chipped ice my h2o diamonds.

Got a blood test, not anemic. Is there any other type of deficiency that would cause a craving for chipped ice?

Should I sign up for “my strange addiction”?
