Question by Devoidance: If one goes to a doctor for assistance in kicking painkiller addiction, do they get put on a “list”?
I had a series of fairly severe injuries that wound up with me prescribed percocet and then norco. I was on the two for about six months. When I’d healed and tried to stop taking them, I suffered terrible withdrawal symptoms, and, as a result, wound up buying more black market. That was a year ago.

Now, I know the smart thing would have been to tell my doctor that this was happening when I’d first been slated to stop taking them, but, in truth, I’d liked the effects and they were available. Now, in retrospect, I see how incredibly stupid I was.    Read more...

Im very depressed. I get low marks and my marks arnt high enough for university/college/community college or anything. you need to go to your family doctor and explain all this to him and he will help you or give you a referral to go and talk to someone. seriously people on this can’t help you, alot of them are kids and have no idea what your going through    Read more...

I’m not familiar with this place yet as we have only moved a few weeks ago and I only have time to go to the office and home and not anywhere else. I want to get my husband admitted into a treatment center so he can be back to how he once was before he started getting addicted to alcohol. Help please.

Your best bet is to get a referral from a doctor. Given the proximity to a major city, there should be plenty of options. If you don’t have a family doctor yet, ask a co-worker to put you in touch with theirs. Or better yet, get in touch with your old doctor and see if they can make a referral.

i’m glad you a caring parent, we need more like you.

when i went though this no one, not even my caring, well intentioning parents could help me until i cam to terms and wanted out. they were quite helpful until then just by chatting about anything and everything and taking me out and making me a part of their lives. Question by Tasia: Is an anxiety medication addiction bad if it helps keep you sane?
I have been taking Xanax for about 2 years for generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks. I’ve read a lot on the internet that being addicted is a “bad” thing, but is it bad if it keeps me from going postal or being lousy company to my partner or getting no sleep? My psychiatrist thinks long-term use is ok, but most family doctors warn against long-term Xanax use. Do any of you have any experience with this drug?
