Question by dah19782003: i am in recovery, for drink and drugs, i havent used for 184 days…however…..?
as ive stated above,i havent used drink or drugs to get high over the last 184 days. when i started rehab a few months ago, i had to stop using zopiclone sleeping tablets,as they were ‘mind and mood altering’,and that they would show up on and urine test as positive,and therefore conflict with my results. i stopped using them.
my sleeping pattern has got alot better over the last few months, however i still have 1 or 2 nights where im unable to sleep and find it difficult and stressful to switch off. because i couldnt take zopiclone, i was given zolpidem sleeping tablets,which were alot weaker than zopiclone. over the last few months, i have probably taken 4 or 5 of these,only when ive desperately needed to get to sleep. someone said to me yesterday that im only as clean as when i last took a zolphidem sleeping tablet, while others say thats not the case,and that im still 184 days clean, because i took them for a valid reason of not being able to sleep, rather than to use and abuse them, to change how im feeling or otherwise. what do others think of this please, and my clean time, as its bugging me.    Read more...

If a student of 18 years old told their school counsellor that they were addicted to weed, and needed help with it, would that school counsellor be obliged to keep it a secret? As in, not being allowed to tell the school or the student’s parents?
Also, what can a school counsellor do about these problems? Can the student counsellor actually help the student or are they obliged to send the student to a rehab center or something?
Can the school counsellor just have talking sessions with the student and help them like that, or are they not qualified enough for such problems?

Question by dede: Help in NW Indiana for son who’s depressed and self medicates?
Is there any other place in NW IN that has a good dual diagnosis program? He has been clean for four months but is depressed and ready to relaspe.(cocaine and/or heroin was what he used to self medicate.)Has low self-esteem, doesn’t care about anything,carries alot of guilt, and shame for things he’s done to self medicate. Newlywed since May/wonderful girl, new father to a baby girl/October and has a really good job that he likes in sales. Everything to be greatful 4-she/we(family) have alot of trust issues with him as he used to take his checks from previous jobs and go on binges or steal from us. His father is an alcoholic/drug addict. I divorced him when he was 9. He has a loving a and supportive family and a step father that has been there 4 him 4 9 yrs. My son is 25. Has been through alot of jobs until he found this one. Haven’t been able to find a doctor to treat his depression, they always address the substance abuse and not the depression.
