What Is the Longer-Term Prognosis for Someone Addicted to Methamphetamine?
Question by Laura A: What is the longer-term prognosis for someone addicted to methamphetamine?
I recently found out my very best friend was born addicted to crystal meth, and I *know* that causes a lot of developmental delays and health problems. What I’m wondering is if anyone knows what a general long-term prognosis for someone born addicted to meth would be? I.E. what would be a general guideline of any health issues or problems that could arise for a former meth baby from ages 18 to 24, if any?
Thanks!

From MAMA:
And indeed that is what the studies demonstrate. When methamphetamine exposed children are studied at age eight to ten, the cavitary lesions and ventricular dilation are no longer seen (Smith 2001) . All of the children in this study had been exposed to methamphetamine with very low levels of exposure to other drugs of abuse, including alcohol. Children with developmental delay, impaired growth, seizure disorders or ADHD were excluded. Only those children who looked perfectly normal were studied. There are no scientific studies to indicate what percentage of methamphetamine exposed children have developmental delays, learning disabilities or ADHD.
Why Do Tobacco Companies Add Over 200 Chemicals to Cigarretes?
Question by Kristian: Why do tobacco companies add over 200 chemicals to cigarretes?
Ive been wondering this for a while. The tobacco plant by itself is not nearly as harmful before these chemicals are added and the nicotine already causes addiction. So why would they add all these chemicals? it seems like all it does is cause the health problems of the user to be increased. So why add them at all?

Taste and preservatives. Moisture retention, on and on

There are chemicals in everything you put in your body. The only time you hear anyone whine about it is when they are in tobacco. It is not like the “chemicals” they “add” to tobacco are what causes cancer on their own or something.

God can help you — and He will, as you turn to Him and humbly seek His help. The Bible’s promise is for you: “The Lord helps them and delivers them…because they take refuge in him” (Psalm 37:40).
Is There a Diet to Lose Fat and Gain Muscle?
Question by Aesthetic: Is there a diet to lose fat and gain muscle?
Hello, I have a sort of a belly and I’m starting working out tomorrow. I have started a diet a week ago in which i mainly focus on boiled vegetables and chicken breast. I avoid any type of fast foods, soda drinks, rice, bread, sugar and salt. I know I must take carbs for energy (from brown rice for example…) how much carbs should i consume or should i consume at all? Should I buy supplements (proteins)?
Note: I am 6’2 tall and a mesomorph.

The diet that has worked for me is a Whole Food, Plant Based (WFPB) diet which is really a lifestyle change in your food choices. It avoids refined carbohydrates, oils, fats, sugars, excess salt, and food additives. It recommends vegetables, dark leafy greens, legumes (peas, beans, lentils), whole grains (brown rice, quinoa), and non-citrus fruits. I consume a tablespoon of ground flax seed for Omega-3 fatty acids but otherwise avoid all oils and fats for heart health (See Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr. for details).
How Do Special Operations Candidates Stay Healthy and Not Suffer Health Problems Due to Overtraining?
Question by Will: How do special operations candidates stay healthy and not suffer health problems due to overtraining?
I read that overtraining and exercise addiction can cause health problems. You can actually hamper your success by training too much. Your hormones can get out of wack and you can actually get worse results than training less. When Navy SEALs go through hell week, where they do non stop competitive physical activity for 5 days with no more than 4 hours of sleep, how come these things don’t happen to them? How much exercise can a person handle?
