Question by Frady: How to begin methadone treatment for opiate addiction?
My husband and I are seeking methadone treatment for our addiction to opiate pain killers. We have been taking opiates daily for almost 2 years. My husband and I start at 2 Lortab 10 mg and go from there. We take up to 10 pills per day. Not only do we take Lortabs, but we also get Percocets, Dilaudid, Morphine, Tylenol with Codeine, etc.
I started taking such pills 6 years ago as needed after I had been prescribed Lortabs for muscle tension migraines resulting from a car accident. I never took them regularly until 2 years ago. It is very important that my husband and I seek help for our addiction. We began with prescribed pills, then sought them illegally.
Not only are we destroying our bodies, but we are spending all of our money on these dumb pills!
I have the # for a local methadone clinic and will call tomorrow to start. We are nervous and I am just wondering how the program works. Any details would help us greatly. Thank you so much… you are helping us get clean    Read more...

Question by Safu: How to stop Methadone addiction for good?
I’ve been addicted to methadone for about a year and to other narcotics for about 6 years. I want to stop using methadone and all drugs for good. I have tried a couple of rehabs and I’m just about to give up. The last one got me addicted to methadone and now I can’t quit. It was easier to quit heroine on my own but now I wish I had only a heroin addiction. At first I thought that it was a good idea to get a high on methadone as there was no risk to get in trouble with the police and the doctors are always willing to help me with prescriptions. I have a friend that has been on methadone for 10 years and I don’t want that either. He’s not healthy and I don’t want to go through one more methadone withdrawal, it was hell I have never experienced more pain, I prefer to die. Thanks!    Read more...

Question by Sara: How can I detox a low-dose methadone addiction at home?
I have been an opioid addict for 6years. Percocets(100-130mg a day) to heroin(a bundle a day). I detoxed myself off of the heroin 4 years ago cold turkey and stayed clean for a year before returning to perks and eventually methadone. I buy 10mg pills off the street and have been maintaining 10-30mgs a day for 5months. I have only taken it to keep from withdrawling and am desperate to be totally clean. PLEASE HELP ME.Any advice will be greatly appreciated, I have no insurance and am a 33 yr old mother of a beautiful babygirl.

Question by Tommy: Methadone addiction; need medical experts help?
Ive been addicted to methadone for around 2 years taking around 120 milligrams a day see today i missed the clinic and bought Suboxone to take away the withdrawl symptoms but it didnt it seemed to make it worse x 10 so can u tell me what happenend. And also how long it would take me to get off of methadone to where i would have no withdrawl symtoms Please I need medical help!!!!!!
