causes
abuse of drugs. there is a fine line between use and abuse of substances, some are very addictive so it is an easy line to cross. if you’re looking for the reasons why people take drugs, depression, boredom, just interest, wanting to have a good time in general, you dont have to be depressed to want them.
effects
dependency, it can be an expensive habit, very damaging, upsets alot of people around you. however some poeple can be addicted to something and lead a normal life, and function perfectly

Does This Mean I Am Addicted to Cigarettes?

Question by latinasophia: Does this mean i am addicted to cigarettes?
When i started college I made friends with a whole load of new people & every single one of those people smoke. I always told myself I would never smoke. I would stand with them outside while they had a cigarette so I know I was a passive smoker. At a party i was a little drunk & just decided to light up & have a smoke. I know find myself finishing off my friends cigarette when she doesn’t want the rest & sometimes when I am at home I find myself wanting a cigarette & I get quite irritable & annoyed over the fact that I can’t as I don’t have any. Am I addicted?

I think that you are on your way to addiction, but you are not addicted yet. You are not smoking enough and what you are suffering is more related to the psychological component of addiction.

Drug/ Alcohol Addiction: Do You Think Its Genetic?

Question by fgdhfghr: Drug/ Alcohol addiction: Do you think its genetic?
I have had alcohol. I even got drunk when I was a teen from peer pressure. But now as an adult, I rarely drink…..no desire to. I have also used narcotic pain killers after surgery and never had the desire to continue using them once the pain was gone which was usually within a week. It must be something in my genes. I know so many people addicted to drugs and alcohol. I think if we could find the addiction genes, we could wipe out addiction. What do you think?

I do believe there are genetics at play. But at the end of the day people also make choices.

Kind of. Weak willpower can be inherited. Addicted people are making excuses for themselves. If you can’t go without, don’t try it.

What Do You Know About Children Drug Addiction?

Question by esmeranada: what do you know about children drug addiction?
why does it happens and what are the ways to stop it?

Answer by Bryan
I am assuming that you are talking about drug addiction and answering this. It all starts with” let me just give it a try” and most often due to peer pressure. It is alright if it just stops at one try, but if the drug or alcohol is tried for a few days and if the child starts enjoying it, he/she can’t restrain from its use. Plus, children are less educated about the harmful effects of drug addiction and are also gullible. They believe in the exotic stories of pleasure and good life told by other addicts who get them into addiction.

The effect of drugs on children can be more intense than it is on an adult. So it is necessary to get help as soon as possible.

What Are Some Causes of Bullimia?

Question by Incinerating_Soulblueyedsuicide: What are some causes of bullimia?
can it be caused by stress? what else?

Best answer:

Answer by Amber B
Number one cause of bulimia is insecurity (in my opinion). Trying to be as thin as an ideal girl, someone who eats a lot (or even normal portions) will just purge. Its about striving for the ideal, by whatever means necessary.

Answer by Shawnacy
What causes bulimia?
Bulimia results from the coming together of diverse factors, both chemical and environmental. People are born with an inherited predisposition towards developing bulimia, particularly where addiction is in the genes. Bulimic individuals who experience the hardest struggle in making a full recovery are those who suffer from addictions to substances. A significant correlation between the development of clinical bulimia nervosa and sexual abuse has also been proven.
