Addiction and Personalities…. Personal/educated Opinions…?

Question by Davis Wylde: Addiction and personalities…. personal/educated opinions…?
Do you believe- as modern studies are suggesting -that it is the intent with which people employ the use of pharmaceuticals- narcotics mostly -that is the deciding factor of addiction?
Clearly some people deserve and NEED the relief which is found in narcotic pain killers. I believe it is the pressure put on doctors from the F.D.A. and people who have concrete rules regarding morality. And we all know that it is individuality which makes human beings… human beings. WE cannot apply any rules or standards which are not mutable to human beings. Am I wrong in my reasoning?
I am aware of the fact that people abuse the doctors who are compassionate- however, I don’t think people should suffer when their only relief and improvement in the quality of their lives comes from Narcotics.
What do you think?
If quality of life can be improved, shouldn’t the medical community do their best to ensure THAT happens- medicine is inherently dangerous, is it not?

Help With Mehth Addiction?

Question by John Smith: Help with mehth addiction?
I started using (sic) mehth, better known as “meh” on the streets, some time ago. Since then it seems like everything has been going downhill. Before things used to be good and bad, but now everything is just meh. When people used to ask me how my day had been I would usually reply with “good” or “not bad” but now all I can motivate myself to say is meh. Sometimes someone will comment on how nice a day it is, or will talk about a “sick” video game they just bought. Sometimes I’ll come and play The Game too, but when it’s finished, no matter how good the reviews were, all I can manage to stutter out is “meh”. I want my old life back, no more of this painful averageness. If anyone else has had these problems please tell me how to deal with it. Thank you, although all of your answers will undoubtedly just be meh.

What Causes an Addiction to Pain Killers? How Do You Treat It?

Question by biker364: what causes an addiction to pain killers? How do you treat it?
Tramadol, how to get off of this stupid pill, even though I am really in pain, just sick of the stupid pills

This is one of the reasons California is trying to get marijuana legal. These government modified pills have so many bad side effects. Try to find a hobby to keep your mind off taking the pills.

All of the opioids, including tramadol, are potentially addictive. It’s just the nature of these drugs. They all cause some degree of dependence and tolerance. Dependence means that the body gets used to the drug and then produces unpleasant symptoms if the drug is suddenly stopped. Tolerance means that higher and higher doses are required over time to achieve the same effects. But addiction occurs when some people become psychologically attached to some of the side effects of opioids, which they may find pleasant (some opioids produce a feeling of euphoria in some patients, and people can become psychologically addicted to this feeling).

What Sort of Psychological Disorder or Drug Addiction/withdrawal Causes Unreasonable Anger in People?

Question by Alexander Hedley: What sort of psychological disorder or drug addiction/withdrawal causes unreasonable anger in people?
I had a woman shout in my face for a good minute after I politely, patiently, and respectfully explained to her that she was in a quiet study area in the campus library.

Any answers as to what problem a person would have that would make them behave this way?

Answer by Mathieu
Firstly a person can act like that without having a disorder- she have have had a terrible day (or week, or year, or years) and the explosion of anger may have been due to one or more other factors but at that moment she had to lash out. So it could have been like the idea of a person that is angry about their work and when they come home they kick the dog.
