Does Alcohol Work as a Painkiller?
Question by Marie: Does alcohol work as a painkiller?
I’ve been in pain recently from a yoga class where the teacher didn’t bother to warm us up. I can’t take ibuprofen or any NSAIDS so have just manned up and am dealing with it. However, I’ve just had a few drinks (I’m overage don’t panic) and have noticed the pain has eased. Is it because of the alcohol?
Firstly I’m English, not American. Secondly, I just said that I’m not actually taking any drugs. Thirdly, I’m not suggesting using alcohol as a regular painkiller. I’m just curious. Also I have serious lung damage and asthma, so smoking weed would actually kill me.

Not only is it illegal, but also detrimental to his health. Ask him to watch the documentary “The Man Who’s Arm Exploded” (I believe that’s what it is called). I’ve seen it on TLC and Discovery channel, I believe. It is unethical, and if he gets caught, he won’t be able to play at all. It’s simply not worth it.
My Friend Is Addicted to Sleeping Pills. Any Ideas How to Ween Her Off?
Question by Alicia Boudier: My friend is addicted to sleeping pills. Any ideas how to ween her off?
She switches from Excedrin to Tylenol PMs, taking 3-9 pills a night. It always depends, she says.
She’s only 17 so I’m concerned. I imagine this can’t be good for her liver, or well, her health period. Any ideas how to ween her off?
Come on, people.

She has got to see a doctor. This is serious.
Answer by knicname
She needs to go to MD. She needs to stop taking 9! If she just stops she will probably get rebound insomnia. If she needs that much to sleep she should see MD anyway to be properly medicated.

Can I Get in Trouble if I Am Aware That My Wife Takes Medications That Is Not Prescribed to Her?
Question by Guanaco: Can I get in trouble if I am aware that my wife takes medications that is not prescribed to her?
This has been going on for some time, she gets sleeping pills, pain killers and other medications that she gets from her mom. The two that worry me the most are the sleeping pills and painkillers. We have health insurance and she does have a primary doctor. She says she does it to save money. I don’t have to be in the same room, I could hear her snapping the lid off the bottle. I don’t want anything happening to her, we have a 4 yr. old son. Thank you.
