Question by delila lh: How am I going to find out about alcohol rehab centers in Cherry Valley, Arkansas?
I have a neighbor who has been struggling with her alcohol addiction. We’re very close and I have been persuading her for weeks to get herself treated. She has just given me her consent. I’m going to help her find an alcohol rehabilitation center. How do I go about this?

I’m sure there are a variety of alcohol rehab centers in Cherry Valley. You might want to check out the yellow pages to see the list. Call them up and inquire as to their policies, treatment methods, rates, etc. Going to a doctor or healthcare provider to have your friend’s situation assessed and to get recommendations will be good too.

I am confused – an addiction (eg gambling, alcohol, drugs, sex) is not a personality disorder (which is a kind of mental health issue). There are self help groups and 12 step groups for things like alcohol (AA), cocaine (CA), gambling (GA) etc. 12 step groups are free. You can also get face to face free support from drug services. Counselling over the internet would be pretty tricky as you need to read someone’s body language, plus they need to be paid for their time….    Read more...

Okay so since march, every time i drink alcohol i get cramps around my stomach and slightly under my ribs also going through to my back, i also am sick and my throat feels like its closing up. i also get a little bit sad .. it dosent matter what i drink i am not on any medication apart from my pill which i have been on for 7 months so i dont think it is this. its really getting my down i just want to know whats wrong.

Question by dede: Help in NW Indiana for son who’s depressed and self medicates?
Is there any other place in NW IN that has a good dual diagnosis program? He has been clean for four months but is depressed and ready to relaspe.(cocaine and/or heroin was what he used to self medicate.)Has low self-esteem, doesn’t care about anything,carries alot of guilt, and shame for things he’s done to self medicate. Newlywed since May/wonderful girl, new father to a baby girl/October and has a really good job that he likes in sales. Everything to be greatful 4-she/we(family) have alot of trust issues with him as he used to take his checks from previous jobs and go on binges or steal from us. His father is an alcoholic/drug addict. I divorced him when he was 9. He has a loving a and supportive family and a step father that has been there 4 him 4 9 yrs. My son is 25. Has been through alot of jobs until he found this one. Haven’t been able to find a doctor to treat his depression, they always address the substance abuse and not the depression.
