In theory, maybe. In actuality, no.
One of the properties of drugs of abuse that makes them more liable to cause addiction is their rate of absorption. The faster the rate of absorption, the higher the susceptability of causing addiction. On the street the effect is known as “the rush.” The route of administration (how the drug is taken) plays a major role. Drugs that are injected or smoked get to the brain faster, hence the higher addiction to crack, nicotine, or heroin.
Therefore, the long-acting, time-released form of Xanax (Xanax XR) should have a lower potential of causing addiction.
In practice however, many folks chew or crush the tablets allowing all of the drug to be absorbed faster, hence defeating the purpose and giving the desired “rush.”

Ive been really stressed out lately and I got a bottle of Xanax pills off my mate. No Prescription he jsut got them somehow and sells them. They are 2 milligrams and ive been taking them each night for the last 2 weeks. I still have 30 pills left and I want to stop after the 30 pills is over but im just worried about the withdrawal symptoms.
I heard they can be bad how should I stop taking Xanax because I mean I hear you cant just STOP right away you got to get off it slowly then stop. Ive just been taking 1 tablet a day. Any ideas on how I can get off Xanax safely? Thank you all for answering.

You’re not sure it’s Librium what they’ll put you on nor the doses. If you’re afraid of weight gain, talk to your doctor, he’ll present you alternatives.
Anyhow, all the possible weight gain from rehad would not compare to the immense damage you’re causing yourself with that Xanax addiction.
