What are some researchable problems or debates pertaining to drug use and drug addiction? These debates/issues can involve any type of drug or alcohol. Please suggest!

Perhaps you could do the pros and cons of putting addicts on Methadone and/or Suboxone as opposed to getting them off drugs. It’s a hotly debated subject in the substance abuse treatment circles. There is a lot of information available out there.

Should drugs be decriminalized, especially marijuana (look at Portugal’s drug decriminalization success)? Should we look at drug addicts as having a medical problem or a criminal one? The use of recreational stimulants to treat ADD/ADHD, especially when it comes to children. The overprescription of benzodiazepines, one of the most addictive drug types on the planet. Is the marketing of alcohol/tobacco immoral? Are SSRIs and other target drugs actually effective at treating psychological disorders? Is it an individual right to use drugs for recreational purposes?
