it takes 3 weeks to make or break a habit. When you find yourself doing that habit, just think “this isn’t what I want, I don’t want to become addicted.” It’s all control before it becomes addiction

That’s a great question. Think of a good habit that you would like to replace the bad habit with. Then, every time you want to do the bad habit, make yourself do the good habit first. Eventually, the good habit will become stronger, because you do it first. You will feel good about yourself and then easily give up the bad habit.
If it is a habit that is morally wrong and you just know within yourself that it’s wrong, you can talk yourself out of it, but for serious things, you will need some strong help. You have a Savior who you can turn to for strength and help, you can change your life for the better.
The LDS 12-step addiction recovery system is a free service to people trying to overcome any addiction. If it becomes an addiction, you can turn to them for awesome help.
