I’ve done some research and don’t believe it is about sexual abuse as a child. That seems to be the only thing that comes up. I believe I am a sex addict and was never abused in any way at all. My parents treated me wonderfully. How does this happen to someone with a normal, if not great, childhood? I think it would be some sort of chemical imbalance in the brain, but I can’t find any supporting evidence. Anybody know what could cause it?

I find this to be a very difficult topic. I am unsure to what the real cause behind it is. Therefore I can not give a good or valid answer

I think it could be personality.
Some people have addictive personalities where they have to be addicted to something. My sister is a psychologist and I think she said that it has to do with deep sexual desires and not being able to fulfill it because they are always looking for that sexual high.
