Personally, if you have to stoop that low or get that depressed to do self-mutilation, and are that hopeless in life, or just that troubled,..what ends up happening to you is, just like any disease that’s physical, if it’s not treated, it will either remain the same, fluctuate, or get worse and destroy you and your mind and your life.
Self mutilation is an act out of desperateness, pain, hopelessness, lack of control over their lives, themselves, lack of confidence and self esteem, and basically just…desperation and feeling overpowered and oppressed to the point where it hurts so much, that you want to abuse yourself for either not being good enough, or because you hurt too much, or because you’re numb, or in alot of pain or whatever.
Basically…self-mutilation is a cry for help, not as severe as suicide but not as light as mild depression issues either.
It can point to already advanced mental illness, that needs help.
What people don’t understand is, that they CAN be helped. They have no faith in anyone including doctors sometimes or themselves.
I was in their shoes once too. I self mutilated to a light degree, and been through all sorts of things.
I didn’t beileve in help or drug therapy either, but then when I tried it, I was amazed at how much it helped me.
Their biggest problem is their bad-thoughts in their mind being repeated over and over and over…the same badness day in and day out.
That needs to change.
People cannot be “bad” 24/7 in their mind without some sort of an outcome afterwards that will hurt them.
Some of these people are smart and great people, with many abilities. Perhaps they NEVER had love in their whole lives, or a true genuine friend, or a true genuine purpose in life either.
perhaps they’re just at a road block in life where they don’t see a point, or a way out, or are frustrated with life’s really negative parts.
It can be many things.
But what they need is hope, understanding, help, a way out, support, love even. Even if that’s mushy…they need positivity because the negativity is overpowering tem.
