What Helps You Get Over the Past and What Motivates You to Work Toward the Future?

Question by ?§??????: What helps you get over the past and what motivates you to work toward the future?
I’m just curious – but if you’ve ever had a really hard experience in life (who wasn’t?) and are struggling to move forward with life, what have you found that helps you? Some people feel that praying helps tremendously, as it offers peace and hope (not to offend anyone who’s not religious or anything). What helps you get over the past and realize that you can’t change it? I always find it unsettling when I don’t have the answers to why something traumatic happened… like, “Why did they have to die?” “Why did this have to happen?” Etc.

So yeah, what helps you find closure from those hard experiences and gives you the strength to carry on with life?

Also, what helps motivate you to work hard for the future? Is it knowing that you could be highly successful and paid well, having a sense of accomplishment, or just being happy?

Hope there’s a few neat answers.
By the way, in response to the first answer – just because you have had problems in your life and they can hurt you doesn’t make you a selfish person. Just because a person is in tune with their own emotions does not make them selfish or self-centered.
But with that said, I have seen from my own experience that when you are having struggles in life, it is good to stop thinking about those problems and just go out and have fun and try to make others happy.

The short simple answer is by learning to look past the end of our own noses and start contributing to humanity as a whole or at least our community or if we are to selfish for that, just help out someone else.

To me .it is a matter of moving on and not dwelling on the past, which I can’t change anyway. I look forward to what will happen next and keep on going
