I’m doing a project for school and i need to know the physical or psychological dependencies/addiction potential of depressants.
Help would be greatly appreciated
Ok to make a smaller category, im going to limit it to the addictive potential of anti depressants.

Depressants is a big category, alcohol, barbiturates and some of the anti depressants belong to this category. It really isn’t possible to give all of these drugs a single pharmacological description, the mechanisms of action are just too different. You should probably limit your discussion to the most commonly abused drugs.

certain depressants are higly addictive..some can cause fatal deaths.some mess with kidneys and such.physically its mind altering,it can make you even more depressed or make you very anxious some just make u want to sleep.Psychologically you become dependant on them and are as like herion or crack you will do what ever neccesary to get them. Addiction to most controlled substances is a very good probability,because your body has became so dependent on them that u have to have them. im on depressents myself.they effect my appetite my sleep,my moods,and sometimes just normal activity can cause frustration. theres good points and bad.i now sleep well and my anxiety levels have dropped,but in the other hand if i dont have my meds i do not sleep eat or do much of anything.And become a prick for no obvious reasons.im bipolar so thats where the mood swings come in and there not pretty.i hate it..all medications have good points and bad.theyll help you for one reason but may affect you on a different level and not work.addiction well i will admit i am addicted,i do not abuse them in no manner.i only take what im supposed to and when im supposed to.but if i dont have it,well thats the bad part..addiction.. heres a list for you to look over hope it helps steve http://www.ctclearinghouse.org/topics/customer-files/Drugs-with-Addictive-Potential-071105.pdf
