How to Stop Video Game Addiction?

Question by Chris: How to stop video game addiction?
I have a friend who is ADDICTED to a game called DOTA. He is also addicted to Super Smash Bros Brawl and Counterstrike. He will play from the evening until after midnight sometimes. If he doesn’t feel like playing Dota, he will go to Smash bros. If not smash bros, then counterstrike. As friends, we try to persuade him (not force him) into finding more productive hobbies.

I don’t blame him. I play street fighter a lot. But I limit my times very strictly. I barely play on weekdays and when I play, I watch how long I play for.

My friend is not really good with disciplining himself (video games, girlfriends, academics, etc.) How can we, as friends, help him even more and stop his video game addiction?

how’d i know he was a guy?
call me psychic.

Call him on it. He obviously needs counseling. If you’re not going to discipline him, he’ll just continue as he does, and probably die playing games.

At the very least, try to take him places and just have fun. If he objects, stage an intervention.
