Alcoholism is not hereditary, but the predisposition to alcoholism (or other addictions) may be hereditary.

Drinking too much is a problem when it starts to interfere with your non-drinking life, such as unable to perform in bed, breaking up family, being late for work, drinking and driving etc…

From my personal experience, I think I’m predisposed to be an alcoholic, even though I’ve never been one for very long. My longest drinking binge was like 2 weeks when I was 20.

Nowadays, I hardly drink at all. If I buy a bottle of wine, I can’t have “just one glass”. I’ll drink the whole damn bottle. Or 2, or 3, if I have them. That’s why I prefer to stay clean. 🙂

Yes I agree with Zencow. My dad used to come home and yell and put stuff on the stove to fry and then pass out. I used to try to do sleepovers as much as possible just to get away. I was concerned I’d have a problem too and found after awhile I could get drunk “too fast.” So, yes, I cut it out my life permanently.
