Speaking of Weed…..?

Question by Sexy Texy: Speaking of weed…..?
I’ve just always wondered this and now that Y!A is here I guess it’s a good place to ask:

After high school a good friend of mine went off to school in Oklahoma and I remained down here in our hometown and went to a local school. We kept in touch but we became less connected because of her usage of weed (I didn’t want anything to do with it and when she came back to visit that’s all she wanted to do).

She actually quit school after her first year because of the weed. Now, I’ve heard people say it’s not addictive and all that and quite frankly I know next to nothing on the subject of marijuana so here are my questions:

1) Many college kids smoke weed…I get that. But how bad does the “addiction” or whatever you want to call it have to be to cause someone to drop out of school because of it?

2) For those who smoke it that heavily, what are the chances they were doing other things along with the pot?
Can’t you usually tell by looking at people which ones do other drugs? She was pretty overweight…what comes to mind when I hear “drug user” or whatever is someone skinny with a sunken in face and all that…but then again, maybe I’m wrong.
She dropped out because her parents caught her and took away her car (they bought it for her) and it all went downhill from there…

If you were smoking several joints a day, you would turn into a lazy couch potato. It wouldn’t be surprising that someone who smoked a lot would drop out.

Some just smoke pot and drink alcohol, but others use pills, meth, coke, etc. It just depends on the person. You really couldn’t guess unless you knew her very well.

***You can definitely tell when people are on meth. Cocaine and pill users are usually very skinny. Most pot smokers are a little heavy b/c they get the munchies all the time.

I agree that your friend must have had other issues. Drugs are just a crutch people use in dealing with childhood trauma, low self esteem, etc.
