How to Tell My Mom About My Cuts?

Question by Mikey: How to tell my mom about my cuts?
I am not emo or anything. It’s kinda funny how it happened. I was just laying in bed one night and I saw a pocket knife and I just went off. I did it once 2 yrs ago and wanted to see if it was like the first time. I totally regret it. I told 2 best friends (they are still not sure if they want to be my friends because they’re so worried about me) and 2 people already saw my arms. They are on BOTH arm and HUGE & BLOOD RED. I’m not sure if i want to tell my mom because, knowing my mom, she will tell me whole family and never treat me the same. But at the same time, I cut almost every night. It has almost become a habit! I am almost cared of myself. I cant choose. Either: tell me my mom and get help but never be treated the same and be ashamed to be around my family OR keep hurting myself and loose friends for life! I just, it’s too impossible to choose. Please help! xx
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I REALLY NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!! xxxxxxx

Please Explain to Me Why You Shouldnt Contribute to Weed and Drugs?

Question by adnan: Please explain to me why you shouldnt contribute to weed and drugs?
My girlfriend smokes weed and I always try to tell her its wrong, but then again my best friend smokes but I don’t criticize him and on the other hand my brother smokes and I hate it. I just need some kind of information, I know it causes addiction and loss of brain cells and the fact that it highers the chance of having lung cancer, I still need answers. Thank you

IT doesn’t have a higher chance, it has been known to cure cancers and it’s not a strong addiction. It’
s better than nicotine and it kills the same amount of brain cells as coffee. It’s not that bad, but since the government says it is we jsut believe it

Can I Find Addiction Treatment Facilities in Tampa, Florida?

Question by fred astaire: Can I find addiction treatment facilities in Tampa, Florida?
My best friend Joey is asking me to find an addiction treatment facility that will help him with his heroin addiction. I told him that I didn’t know any but I will help him find one. I don’t know much about Florida because I’m from Kentucky. He says that the reason why he chose Tampa is because his Grandpa Redford lives there. Joey is close to his grandpa and he thinks he’ll recover faster if he knows that his grandpa is geographically near. Please help us out. Thanks.

What Are the Requirements for Suboxone Treatment Programs?

Question by lil mama: What are the requirements for Suboxone treatment programs?
A friend of mine wants to get treatment for addiction, he is thinking of Suboxone. What all does this entale?

Suboxone is a very powerful drug but addiction specialists are seeing some good results with it. It takes away that craving sensation and the withdrawal that is usually horrible when you don’t have your narcotics, Suboxone keeps that under control as well.

Your friend should look for a doctor who can prescribe and treat him with Suboxone.

You have to be in full-blown withdrawal to be given Suboxone. Otherwise you get this opposite effect and you can get really really sick from it.

Tell your friend to call his local methadone program and see if they can suggest a physician in his area who can treat with Suboxone.

What Is the Longer-Term Prognosis for Someone Addicted to Methamphetamine?

Question by Laura A: What is the longer-term prognosis for someone addicted to methamphetamine?
I recently found out my very best friend was born addicted to crystal meth, and I *know* that causes a lot of developmental delays and health problems. What I’m wondering is if anyone knows what a general long-term prognosis for someone born addicted to meth would be? I.E. what would be a general guideline of any health issues or problems that could arise for a former meth baby from ages 18 to 24, if any?

Thanks!

From MAMA:

And indeed that is what the studies demonstrate. When methamphetamine exposed children are studied at age eight to ten, the cavitary lesions and ventricular dilation are no longer seen (Smith 2001) . All of the children in this study had been exposed to methamphetamine with very low levels of exposure to other drugs of abuse, including alcohol. Children with developmental delay, impaired growth, seizure disorders or ADHD were excluded. Only those children who looked perfectly normal were studied. There are no scientific studies to indicate what percentage of methamphetamine exposed children have developmental delays, learning disabilities or ADHD.
