How Would I Know if Someone May Be Borderline-Personality?
Question by Thomas: How would I know if someone may be Borderline-Personality?
I know someone whose parents I am trying to help. Her father and step-mother are her guardians and she is a good person but she has struggles in her past. Her mother neglected her the first 4 years and then her father got her and he married 2 years later. The mother was negligent and had a male friend who may have been abusive (nothing is 100% known). These are some of the traits the daughter is having who is now 22.
Can Addiction Treatment Be Undertaken by Pregnant Women Who Use Drugs?
Question by dolores df: Can addiction treatment be undertaken by pregnant women who use drugs?
Or would this cause the baby more harm? I’ve heard that the baby can get addicted to methadone if the mother takes it while the baby is inside her womb. Should the woman just stop her use of drugs and wait until the baby gets born before she seeks treatment?

It’s actually advisable for pregnant women who are using drugs to undergo addiction treatment as soon as possible. If she doesn’t, her baby will be at risk for having low birthweight when delivered, and her chances for miscarriage will also be higher. It’s safe to undergo methadone treatments as well as detoxification as these are advisable for pregnant women. The baby will most likely get to experience symptoms of withdrawal afterwards, but these can also be treated. If you know someone who is pregnant and is doing drugs, get her to consult a doctor immediately.
How Much Caffeine Is Too Much?
Question by Pisces: How much caffeine is too much?
So lately I’ve been sleeping at like 6am and waking up near the afternoon.. It really sucks cause it feels like your days are halved.
I’ve consumed One small can of Rockstar, a big Monster and I’m about to go for a Redbull cause we ran out of water.
Would it be too much to go for the Redbull? Caffeine kills, so I’m trying to watch myself.

Tell Me About Addiction to Crack Cocaine, I Need to Know What Exactly It Is Doing?
Question by dino: Tell me about addiction to crack cocaine, I need to know what exactly it is doing?
I am a recovering (never say recovered – 6 yrs though) addict of another CDS and so is my husband, but he is struggling with this crack addiction. I want to know what exactly crack is doing when inhaled. I am very unfamiliar with this and it is the most powerful thing I have ever seen. He has made a commitment to stopping but I want to know more for me. I’ve looked at websites, but you always get the best info from people who have been through it or know first hand.

I have had a really good, sheltered life, but as I grow older I feel like there is more appearing. I’ve had anxieties all my life and food addiction. I just wonder whether it could be inherited or not? My adoptive parents aren’t like that at all.

Why Do Some People Have Mental Health Issues and Others Don’t?
Question by Adamismyname: Why do some people have mental health issues and others don’t?
Is it usually genetic?
Usually environmental?
Usually just how some people form?
etc..
I wondered if there was a leading cause though I know overall there are many causes. Mine seems to be genetic, learned, and largely just how I am and school experiences. In my case it is all anxiety.

It’s actually all three of the things you listed!
Not sure if you know this, but “mental” health issues are technically physical; for example, you say you have anxiety, and this is caused by a lack of dopamine (the chemical that makes you happy) created and released in your body. Just like how big you grow, the amount of dopamine you produce can be influenced by other members in your family. My grandfather, aunt, and sister all have the same issue with anxiety. Environmental and how people form somewhat go together. Your environment influences how you form. If you grow in an environment where you’re not appreciated, your brain won’t release as much dopamine.
The best ways to prevent or lessen anxiety are to get a prescription medication from your doctor, or, if you have a less severe case, just convince yourself that everything will be alright.
