I am doing a research paper and i really need to know what causes addictions and what kind of disorders cause them..

Also im doing a few paragraphs on strange addictions… like the show. like what causes people to do such weird things (such as the lady who drank her own urine) why cant they quit or five up? what made them start it in the first place?

depends on what kind of addictions. In cigarettes and hard drugs they contain chemicals that cause you to become physically addicted to it, where your body thinks you need whatever it was. Then theres mental addictions, like all the strange addictions. Theres nothing in her urine thats physically addictive, but when she drank it, something about it was soothing or she enjoyed which made her mentally addicted    Read more...

My brother has a bad addiction to this drug he calls Special “K”. It’s destroying him and our family. He intentionaly induces himself into this “K Hole”. The last time he had a siezure and stopped breathing. He overdosed and went to the hospital emergency. Please, does anybody where we could get intervention or know of a rehab that specializes in this Ketamine drug? Anywhere around the Montreal area?

I didn’t know it was addictive. But it is a cat tranquiler. He shouldn’t be using pet drugs, and he should avoid the raver scene.

Get him the N.A. Big Book. That is my advice.

Sounds like you and your brother live with your parents. OK. Talk with your parents–your not narc-ing–your saving your brothers life. This drug is very potent and dangerous.    Read more...

Treatment for inhalant use is similar to those getting treated for addiction of other substances but the inhalant user may need more structure in their program such as an inpatient (residential) one. (People who have an addiction to other types of drugs and/or alcohol may require inpatient treatment, too, but the products used for huffing are so readily available that inpatient treatment may be the best option.)

My friend has a BRAIN INJURY from huffing at the age of 12, now in her 30s. Please do NOT inhale ANY types of fumes or chemical vapors, and talk to your children (or younger siblings, cousins) about the dangers of inhalant use.

Other risks of huffing include sight loss/blindness, heart/liver/kidney damage, seizures, limb spasms, hearing loss and even death, all of which can happen after the very FIRST time of use.    Read more...
