Visine and the Consequences, Need Help.?

Question by kk: Visine and the consequences, need help.?
A year and a half ago I used visine daily for several years to make my eyes “white” because it’s always red. I later realized it’s constantly read because I had/have “rebound hyperemia” or referred to as “visine addiction”. Apparently after several researches, excessive usage of visine actually causes my eyes to be chronically red. Also, it doesn’t have that whitening effect as often. Last year 2008 I made a resolution to stop and I did for a little over a year.

I notice recently I’ve been using it again and definitely for the past five days daily because I had an eye problem. My eye is healing and I plan on discontinuing visine. My question is, can I ever get my eyes to become white like they use to be? How can I make it become white without using visine or clear eyes?

That happened to my mom and uncles. I don’t know if you’re a guy or a chick, but if you’re a chick, you can use makeup to lessen the red eye effect. I know it sounds like it would be counterproductive, but I use white eye shadow when I have red eyes * I have horrible allergies. I use eye drops to help the itching only. If they’re red…*shrugs* let people think what they want.*

Honestly, unless there’s a reason your eyes are red…I wouldn’t worry too much about it. My mom, as I said, had the same thing. I didn’t even notice until she told me about it that her *or my uncle’s* eyes were redder than normal. If there are reasons your eyes are red *either because of what you smoke or for some other medical reason* either change what’s making your eyes red or change your circumstances so that red eyes don’t matter much.
