To Stop Smoking Heroin Can Be Difficult but You Can Recover From This Opiate Addiction

To stop Smoking Heroin can be difficult but you can recover from this addiction

Are you struggling with the desire to be drug free but you just can’t quit smoking heroin? If this is true for you do not worry you are not alone. It seems now days there are many people out there with one type of addition or another.

There is a huge increase in the number of people smoking heroin over the last ten years or so. This may be largely due to the quantity of the heroin this is due to the major smuggling operations in Mexico and other countries. The purity of heroin has also increased dramatically.

This means that addicts no longer have to shoot heroin to get high they can smoke it and many people are misinformed thinking that its safer smoking heroin than shooting it so its ok. It may in fact be safer to smoke heroin than inject it but this by no means makes it safe. Quite the contrary once again I will remind you that the heroin is more pure these days so heroin overdose is not uncommon and happens frequently.

However there is hope that any addict can stop using lose the desire to use and find a new way to live that is If you want to stop smoking heroin. Now if you do I would suggest you consider going to heroin addiction rehab. This type or rehab has helped many opiate addicted people recover.

If you go you will be care for by medical staff that will for the most part see to your needs and try to make you feel at home. They will also administer medications like suboxone to help with your heroin withdrawal. This process can take up to a week. I would also recommend that you go directly to residential treatment after you detox from heroin. This will give you a leg up as far as staying clean when you leave rehab. Keep in mind that if you choose not to go to residential that you will not stay clean long.

Over my many years in recovery I have yet to see a person just go through detox and go home who did not relapse within a couple of days. So heed the word and go to residential.

It is also important to talk with your counselor about an after care plan. This could include outpatient treatment or just attending 12 step meetings but you need to have it in place.

In my opinion it would not be a bad idea to attend an NA meeting every day and also go to addiction therapy like once a week. If you do this for a few months you should have a pretty good recovery foundation in place.

Good luck

I am in recovery myself and I like to write addiction. It is my goal to give others information on how they can stop using, overcome drug addiction and find a new way to live without drugs.
